Dans Afrika Barakan Festival Iceland 2026 Workshops

Sandra and Mamady Sano at Dans Afríka Iceland are hosting the 9th annual African cultural festival Dans Afríka Barakan Festival Iceland August 26-30 2026 in collaboration with the City of Reykjavík.
We are so happy to introduce our guests this year who are:
💥Bountou Kouyate, Mohamed Camara, Mohamed Soumah and Mariama Bangoura come to us directly from Guinea in collaboration with the Icelandic University of the Arts and Erasmus.
They are all exceptional artists that come from Ballet Merveilles de Guinée where Mamady Sano is the artistic director.
💥Dartagnan Camara, Lancei Dioubate, Mohamed Dioubate, Bangaly Bangoura, Alya Camara, Amadou Bangoura and Sekou Camara are all exceptional artists from Guinea who now live in Europe and share their culture there and around the world.
💥The courses will be held at the Selásskóli Sports Hall
Selásbraut 110 Reykjavík.
Course Schedule:
All classes are accompanied by live drumming and are from the culture of Guinea West Africa.

🔸18:00-19:00 Djembe drum class with Dartagnan Camara
🔸19:00-20:30 African dance class with Bountou Kouyate

🔸18:00-19:00 Doun doun drum class with Mohamed Camara
🔸19:00-20:30 African dance class with Alya Camara

🔸19:00-20:30 African dance class with Bountou Kouyate

🔸11:00-11:50 Family Afro with the festival artists, parents and children dancing and drumming together.
🔸12:00-13:00 doun doun drum class with Mohamed Soumah
🔸13:00-15:00 African dance class
with Bountou Kouyate, Alya Camara and Mariama Bangoura
🔸21:00-01:00 Concert and party at Bíó Paradís, Hverfisgata 54 101 Reykjavík
All the festival artists will have a concert at 22:00
Sekou Camara will be a DJ and play African music before and after the concert.

Free performance with all the artists of the festival at the rainbow street Skólavörðustígur 101 Reykjavík
