Welcome to a free walking tour of downtown Reykjavík on Thursday, August 13 at 8:00 PM. 🚶‍♀️
Singer-songwriter and comedian Vigdís Hafliðadóttir will guide participants through the poetic worlds of women poets in downtown Reykjavík. This literary walk is centered on the history and voices of women and was originally created as a collaborative project between Reykjavík City Library and The Icelandic Women's Rights Association to mark the Year of Women. The walk was designed as a flexible literary tour that can be adapted and presented in many different locations. It is based on selecting a number of key sites commonly found in most towns and connecting them with texts by women writers that evoke particular perspectives. For this event, Vigdís has chosen the locations and will lead us between them in her own unique way.
The walk concludes at the Reykjavík City Library, where Vigdís will perform together with pianist Anna Gréta while participants enjoy light refreshments.
The tour begins at the Reykjavík City Library in Grófin, Tryggvagata 15, and will be conducted in Icelandic. It lasts approximately 1.5 hours.
This walk is part of the Evening Walks series, organized by the Reykjavík City Library, the Reykjavík City Museum, and the Reykjavík Art Museum.
The walks are free of charge and take place on Thursday evenings from 20:00 PM to 21:30 PM throughout the summer months. Please note that each walk starts at a different location.
The full program can be found on the museums’ websites and on the Evening Walks Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/kvoldgongur and here
