Derico Alves in Concert: A Tribute to the Masters of Forró

Derico Alves is a singer, songwriter, and accordionist from Pernambuco, born in Recife and raised in a traditional family of musicians from Garanhuns. With more than two decades of experience, he has built a solid career dedicated to celebrating Northeastern Brazilian music and the rich cultural heritage of Pernambuco.

Throughout his career, he has collaborated and recorded with some of Brazil’s most renowned artists, including Sivuca, Dominguinhos, Morais Moreira, Quinteto Violado, and Elba Ramalho.

Since his first international tour in 1998, Derico has developed a strong connection with European audiences, performing at more than 50 festivals across over 20 countries. His music has been featured at major international events, including the Montreux Jazz Festival and the United Nations International Bazaar.

In 2012, he was invited by TV Globo to perform at the Brazilian Day celebration, sharing the stage with Paula Fernandes before an audience of more than 60,000 people.

His repertoire honors the great masters of forró and Northeastern Brazilian popular music while also embracing original compositions and the work of emerging artists from Pernambuco. With contagious energy and deep respect for tradition, Derico Alves continues to keep the spirit and soul of forró alive wherever he performs.
