Dreamy, atmospheric mist surrounds the narrative world conjured by Icelandic singer-songwriter Anna Sóley and her sister Lilja María. The setlist is a mix of original songs from an upcoming album, Painting Reality, Photographing Fiction, along with older songs from Anna’s debut album, Modern Age Ophelia, and well-selected covers in a stripped-down setting of an acoustic guitar, voice, and Lilja’s self-made, harp-sitar-like instrument, Hulda.
The upcoming album explores behavioural patterns and how storytelling shapes our perception of reality. Just like on Modern Age Ophelia, the music takes inspiration from well-known 60s and 70s singer-songwriters. “If you think nobody makes records like those first four Joni Mitchell albums anymore, listen here, and think again” – David Fricke.
