Artist Talk: MORAKANA – To Move an Ancient Stone
Kling & Bang, Grandagarður 20, 101 Reykjavík Directions
Sun 05.07.2026 15:00
We are excited to invite you to our latest event as part of “To move an ancient stone”, an artist talk by MORAKANA, the NY-based duo featuring work in the exhibition this Sunday at 3 pm at Kling&Bang.
Tiri Kananuruk and Sebastián Morales Prado will present their work “Cumulus” and talk about their artistic practice and experience as a studio crafting speculative ecosystems and hardware. They work primarily with themes connected to nature, science and techno-artistic experimentation.
MORAKANA is a New York-based experimental research and development studio founded by Tiri Kananuruk (TH) and Sebastián Morales Prado (MX). Our work is characterized by scientific and artistic inquiry, development of custom tools, and experimentation. By leveraging scientific principles and challenging the role of technology in our lives, MORAKANA invites us to think critically about plausible means for Nature to reclaim the physical and digital ecosystems we are part of.
They teach at the Yale School of Art, NYU Tisch School of the Arts, and the School for Poetic Computation (SFPC). Their work has been supported by NEW INC, CultureHub, Autodesk Pier 9, Mana Contemporary, Lumen Prize, and Tropical Futures Institute among others.
All are welcome, free entrance. This event and the exhibition are part of the Reykjavík Arts Festival 2026.
