Adam Young and the Down Main + Johnston City

Cuttin’ about with our favourite big-band, the unbeatable Johnston City at the brilliant Mixtape Brewing. Here are the blurbs:
Adam Young spent several years in successful indie rock acts such as the Daisygrinders and Big Heavy Stuff, and has had his songs covered by the likes of You Am I and The Lemonheads. This would be enough to make any musician retire happily.
HIs debut solo album, Elementary Carnival Blues, was released in 2016 and features 10 tracks of real alternative country and we believe that it easily stands beside the best work from Wilco, the Jayhawks, Uncle Tupelo and other legends of the genre. But Adam hasn’t left his roots behind either. Imagine if Gram Parsons had fronted early REM or Steve Earle got together with Buffalo Tom. That’s the vibe that you get on this album.
Here’s what the critics had to say.
“Adam Young’s solo album is assured Americana.” – Bernard Zuel, Sydney Morning Herald
“Stands on par with alt rock legends like The Jayhawks and Ryan Adams.” The Music
“The Australian album of the year. Essential for all lovers of Americana.” – Vinny Ramone, 2SER
“An album that you will savour across the board. Seek it out.” Michael Smith, Rhythms Magazine
Johnston City is the dream band of Dashville native Daniel T Johnston, a star-studded assemblage of fellow travellers who collaborate and deliver his classic rock’n’roll bangers with something bordering on telepathy. JC have been slowly but surely building a cult following with their anthemic, sweetly swaying yet classically muscular sound that owes as much to the subtleties of vocal doo-wop groups of the ‘60s as it does to the sledgehammer barn-burners of Springsteen and Seger. The measure of an original band is how they can hook a new crowd with that familiar warm and fuzzy feeling, even though they are hearing the tunes for the first time. Johnston City have that feelgood juice by the bucketload.
Their long-awaited debut long player, Decie’s Pride, is in the bag after a magical sojourn at Grove Studios with the extended family, recorded under the cosmic ears of producer Adam Young and engineer Damien Charles.
