BÓKABÍÓ: PRIDE AND PREJUDICE

This year’s RIFF Lit Flick screening is Pride and Prejudice, which took the world by storm when it was released in 2005 and continues to be hugely popular today. Like the novel it is based on, the film, directed by Joe Wright, has become a timeless classic. The film received four Academy Award nominations, including a nomination for Keira Knightley for Best Actress in a Leading Role for her portrayal of Elizabeth Bennet.

The screening is presented in collaboration with the Jane Austen Fan Club of Iceland. Kristín Linda Jónsdóttir, psychologist and chair of the club, will explore Jane Austen and ask: Why do her works continue to resonate with audiences today? Silja Aðalsteinsdóttir, literary scholar and translator of Pride and Prejudice into Icelandic, will discuss the novel.
