Grocery Gameshow

Res Life & Essentials have teamed up to bring you an evening of classic gameshows with loads of great prizes to be won! This event will take place on Thursday 17th September from 6pm to 8pm in Pyramid Theatre, Leeds University Union.

We've got bundles of groceries, toiletries and cleaning products to give away to the winners of each round. Plus, the overall winners for the night will win a £40 Co-op supermarket voucher EACH!

Bring your flatmates or come by yourself and compete in a team of 4 to 6 people. You'll be playing 9 different games across the night based on classic TV gameshows, including The Price is Right, Countdown and The Cube! Some games involve the team, and some will involve nominating a member to represent your team. Check out the full list of games below.

Survey Says

Can your team guess the most popular survey result? Put your own thoughts to one side and get into the minds of others! If you get all of them right, your team wins a prize.

Minute to Win it

Nominate a team member to race against the clock in a game of hand-eye coordination. Who can flip cups and toss rings the fastest? The fastest person wins a prize for their team.

The Price Is Right

Nominate an individual who knows their supermarket prices. How much does each item cost in a specified UK supermarket? The savviest player wins a prize for their team!

Accessibility: this game requires writing on a whiteboard, and our team can support with this if required.

Where am I?

Nominate a team member who knows Leeds well! They will be racing against other team members to name key Leeds locations, square by square. The twist? Answer incorrectly and you're eliminated from the round! The person to guess the location correctly wins a prize for their team.

We've generated some AI film images. Guess all the films correctly as a team, and you will win a prize!

What's in the box?

Nominate a brave team member to reach inside the mystery box and name the item inside! No peeking allowed! Those who get the most correct, win a prize for their team!

Nominate a team member to complete a time based challenge and put their counting skills to the test!

In your teams, you will be busting common myths around food! ...is the moon made of cheese? no, it’s not.

Storage Wars Nominate a member of your team to figure out where we should be storing our food. Will you listen to your team or trust yourself!

Higher or Lower

Don’t worry, this has nothing to do with heights. It is time to get to grips with your food knowledge. We will give you a food item and a nutritional value. As a team you must then tell us if the next item has a higher or lower nutritional value.

Accessibility Information

Entry to the venue: There is step-free access to Pyramid Theatre. There are two lift options to reach the first basement floor (near Co-op supermarket). Lift 1 can be found opposite the Refectory. This lift goes to floor -1. From there, the next lift is located at the end of the corridor, past the food vendors, Co-op and the Scarlet and Mango studios. This lift can then be used to get to Pyramid Canteen (floor -2) and Pyramid Theatre (floor -3).

Lift 2 is located through the doors to the left of the main Terrace entrance and then by turning right once you're through those doors. From there, the next lift is located at the end of the corridor, past the food vendors, Co-op and the Scarlet and Mango studios. This lift can then be used to get to Pyramid Canteen (floor -2) and Pyramid Theatre (floor -3).

Accessible toilet: located at the back right hand side of Pyramid Canteen, on the upper level. There is no toilet available in the theatre. The bar is also located on the upper level. This can be accessed via a ramp.

Quiet room if needed: Meeting room 1, accessible by a lift outside Riley Smith Theatre.

How the event will run: This event is a gameshow featuring nine different games. The games are described above with accessibility information for each one. You will need to take part in the gameshow in a team. You can arrive in a team or form a team once you get to the theatre. At any point if you want to leave, you can. There will be a bar open where you can buy drinks during the event.

Event Photography: We will be taking photos and videos during the event to capture the fun and share highlights on our Residence Life website and Instagram. These images will not be used outside of Residence Life promotional purposes.
