DO GLACIERS GET HOMESICK?

A Greenlandic iceberg visits Ísafjörður.

When does an iceberg stop being a glacier and become the ocean?

What does water frozen for thousands of years have to say as it melts onto paper?

Do glaciers get homesick?

In August 2026, an unusual visitor drifted into Ísafjarðardjúp: a Greenlandic iceberg.

Calved from the edge of a Greenlandic glacier, it drifted all the way to the shores of Iceland.

I call both places home.

The artwork in this exhibition are painted using melted ice from this specific iceberg.

Water frozen for millennia, melted at last on my living room table.

This is not the first time I have worked with melting Greenlandic glacial ice. The very first painting came to life in 2014 while studying at the art school in Nuuk (Eqqumiitsuliornermik Ilinniarfik). It was there that I first began collecting fragments of ice from the shore by the school, applying pigment, and letting them melt into watercolor paper.

Alongside the paintings, I present photographs taken by myself and my family during our time living in Greenland. A period spanning nearly two decades.
