It is our great pleasure to invite you to the closing conference of the project Inclusion in the Icelandic University Community, which will take place on 5 November 2026, from 9:00 to 15:00 in the Nordic House.
The conference marks the conclusion of a two-year collaborative project involving Iceland’s public universities, while also opening the next phase, in which the project’s findings, strategy and practical tools will be carried forward into the ongoing work of the universities.
The conference will present the project's main findings and students' experiences, while also addressing prejudice, stereotypes, belonging, inclusive teaching, and institutional responsibility.
One of the keynote speakers will be Dani de Torres, an expert on intercultural policy for the Council of Europe, coordinator of the Spanish Intercultural Cities network and founder of Anti-Rumours Global. He has worked with cities and institutions across Europe to develop practical approaches to addressing prejudice, stereotypes and negative narratives about migration and diversity. At the conference, he will introduce the Anti-Rumours approach and discuss how it can foster more open dialogue, critical thinking and inclusion.
Eliza Reid will chair the conference. Eliza Reid will chair the conference. She is an author, speaker, advocate for gender equality and former First Lady of Iceland. Eliza has extensive experience in leading conversations and speaking internationally on equality, society, identity and social change. She is also a co-founder of the Iceland Writers Retreat and has for many years taken an active part in public debate in Iceland.
The programme will include, among other things:
-presentation of the project’s main findings;
-student voices and experiences;
-keynote talks on prejudice, inclusion and the Anti-Rumours approach;
-practical examples of inclusive teaching and student reception.
The conference is intended for university staff and leaders, teachers, students, employees of public institutions and municipalities, and anyone interested in equality, diversity and inclusion.
