Following acclaimed performances in Japan, Singapore and Hong Kong, this large-scale production now comes to Sydney in its original cast. Led by legendary Peking Opera master Chu Lu-Hao, one of Taiwan’s most celebrated interpreters of Sun Wukong, the production brings this iconic hero vividly to life.
Inspired by the legendary Journey to the West, the show follows Sun Wukong — the original superhero — as he storms the Dragon Palace, rides the Somersault Cloud, and takes on the forces of heaven in an epic rebellion.
Blending dazzling martial arts, live music, acrobatics and stunning visual effects, The Monkey King delivers a thrilling theatrical experience full of action, humour and wonder.
