Get into the holiday spirit with a cozy, beginner-friendly workshop in patchwork and hand sewing. In this hands-on session, participants ages 12 and up will learn basic stitching and fabric piecing techniques while creating a festive Christmas tree ornament from recycled fabrics and other repurposed materials.
No previous sewing experience is necessary so just bring your creativity and enjoy an afternoon of making, stitching, and sharing together. Participants will explore simple ways to transform fabric scraps and discarded materials into something new and festive. You are welcome to bring your own old clothing or home linens to use in your piece. Everyone will leave with at least one handmade ornament to add to their holiday decorations or give as a thoughtful gift.
The workshop is perfect for families. All materials are provided.
The workshop is lead by Christalena Hughmanick and will be taught in english.

Reykjavík City Library is taking part in a three-year international project called make-a-thek. The aim of the project is to create a space for creativity and a wide range of craft activities, where people can share knowledge and learn new ways to repair, remake, and upcycle clothing and other textiles. The project is funded by the European Union's Horizon Europe programme, and nine public libraries from across Europe are participating.
