A scavenger hunt for children and families
A rogue hacker has broken into the library’s systems and printers, spreading false information throughout the library. The library has called in Detective Tóta to investigate the case, and now she needs your help. By using the three simple steps Stop, Think, and Check, she is sure that together you can solve the mystery, identify the false information, and save the library.
Stop, Think, Check are guidelines from the Icelandic Media Commission that help people recognize misinformation and fake news. See more (in Icelandic): https://fjolmidlanefnd.is/stoppa-hugsa-athuga/
Þórunn Vignisdóttir (Tóta) leads the scavenger hunt. She has worked for many years in public libraries, both in Reykjavík and Stockholm. She specializes in digital literacy, media literacy, and the creative use of technology with children and young people.
This event is part of Soft Networks – Digesting Information Together, a programme series supported by the Icelandic Library Fund. From 11th - 18th of October, Reykjavík City Library will offer a variety of events for children and families across all eight library branches as a lead-up to Media Literacy Week.
